hello fishingfriends,

The time has come to gear up and get the lines wet again for the 2007 fishing season. the month of may gives us all kinds of action on the south shore. The adult bunker are right on time and the big bass will be right behind them. I  hope to be into some big bass by the 2nd week in may. keep your eyes pealed for the reports on noreast.com and here at home.  I will also be targeting big weakfish in the comming weeks around the fire island area at dusk. I hope to fish with many of you this year. I will also be doing plenty of open boat trips so please look for them soon.

SHAKEDOWN

i took the boat out last week and had a few bugs to work out so i got it all fixed up and took her out this morning to just burn some fuel and check some favorate fishing spots for signs of life.

i launched the boat at smith point bridge at about 8am and the tide was at the very end of the incomming. .we fished a quick drift with clam bellies but with no tide we headed to the inlet to catch the beginning of the outgoing.. west wind at about 8mph. weather was cool this morning with a few drizzles till about noon when the sun started to top in and out from time to time. we made 2 drifts in the inlet with the bellies with no life so i made the call to give up and look in a few ole bait spots just to see what was lurking. the first spot i looked we found plenty of life. there was bunker jumping all around but they were just to scattered to get the castnet on them. i gave it about 6 tosses with no luck.
