AS SOME OF YOU KNOW I WENT TO FLORIDA TO FLY SOME TARPON IN BOCA GRANDE.  THIS YEAR I TOOK CAPT. BARBARA OF LUV2FISH CHARTERS AND WE HAD A BLAST.  CAPT. BARB. AND MYSELF BOTH HUNG TARPON BETWEEN 130 AND 150LBS. WE ALLSO WENT SNOOK AND REDFISHING AND WE HAD OUR WAY WITH THEM. BOTH SCRAPPY FIGHTERS.  YOU CAN SEE VIDEOS OF TARPON BEING HANDFED AND CAPT. BARB FLYS ONE LATE IN HER BATTLE.

THE MORISHES BASS BITE WAS HOT FOR ABOUT A WEEK BEFORE THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND BOAT TRAFFIC BROKE UP THE FISH AND SENT THEM LOOKING FOR FOOD ELSEWHERE. I FISHED TUESDAY AFTER THE HOLIDAAY AND WE HAD A FEW FISH TO THE BOAT BUT THEY BOTH SHOOK THE HOOK BEFORE I GOT THE NET ON THEM.  THE FLUKE BITE IS GOOD ON BOTH THE NORTH AND SOUTH SHORES.  I WANT TO DO SOME NORTH SHORE FLUKE FISHING ...

I HAD RICH TROX OUT TODAY FOR SOME CARP FISHING ABOARD THE AQUAHOLIC. THERE ARE PLENTY OF BIG CARP AROUND TO FEEL PULL IF YOU LIKE FEELING LIKE A TRAIN IS ON THE HOOK. THIS MONSTER IN THE PIC MUST HAVE BEEN AT LEAST 20LBS.

i had mark aboard today for some castnet lessons and some plugging action. after a quick lesson mark tossed the net over a school of bunker and trapped about 10. i never seen anyone get bait on there first toss. great job mark.. the fog was thick the last few days so we were limited on how far we could travel. we found birds working over a school of schoolie size  bass with a few keepers and a few big bluefish in the mix. we had about 30 bass and the same amount of blues.top water was the ticket,i allso gave back country skinny water bassing a try and i did raise a fish but didnt stickm......the holiday weekend nor'east saltwater striped bass tourny is around the corner.. anyone want to win that thing?????

well the fluke have arrived folks, i found a nice pod of fish hanging around in between 30-40' outside the inlet as long as you have a slight wind to give a good drift there are some quality doormats to be boxed. the big bluefish are allways fun to play with and they are pretty thick allso with some small bass mixed in. there is still plenty of bunker around for the bigguns who are just around the corner. i will be doing some short after work charters this week so if you have a itch give me a shout........thanks for visiting....capt. gil

HAD A GREAT EVENING ON THE WATER TODAY.  I FOUND THE BUNKER EASY BUT THE BIG BASS HAVENT GOTTEN UP THIS FAR QUIT YET. I GIVE IT ANOTHER WEEK AND ALL HELL IS GOING TO BUST LOOSE AROUND MORICHES.THE BAIT IS HERE WAITING FOR THE BIGGUNS. REPORTS TELL ME THE FLUKE BITE HAS EXPLODED OUTSIDE THE INLET SO I MITE GIVE THAT A TRY THIS WEEKEND. I BET THE BIG FLUKE WOULDNT PASS UP A FRESH BUNKER FILLET. THE BLUEFISH HAVE INVADED THE AREA SO ITS HARD TO KEEP A BAIT IN THE WATER WITHOUT IT GETTINE MAULED.

the action is starting to heat up around moriches. i was out today for only a few hours and landed about 10 nice bluefish around 5#.  i allso found and loaded up on adult bunker, the big bass should be here soon but till then we have plenty of rod bending action with smaller bass and bluefish.  if you want to fish drop me a line and we can work it out.  it only gets better..........capt. gil

hello fishingfriends,

The time has come to gear up and get the lines wet again for the 2007 fishing season. the month of may gives us all kinds of action on the south shore. The adult bunker are right on time and the big bass will be right behind them. I  hope to be into some big bass by the 2nd week in may. keep your eyes pealed for the reports on noreast.com and here at home.  I will also be targeting big weakfish in the comming weeks around the fire island area at dusk. I hope to fish with many of you this year. I will also be doing plenty of open boat trips so please look for them soon.

i took the boat out last week and had a few bugs to work out so i got it all fixed up and took her out this morning to just burn some fuel and check some favorate fishing spots for signs of life.

i launched the boat at smith point bridge at about 8am and the tide was at the very end of the incomming. .we fished a quick drift with clam bellies but with no tide we headed to the inlet to catch the beginning of the outgoing.. west wind at about 8mph. weather was cool this morning with a few drizzles till about noon when the sun started to top in and out from time to time. we made 2 drifts in the inlet with the bellies with no life so i made the call to give up and look in a few ole bait spots just to see what was lurking. the first spot i looked we found plenty of life. there was bunker jumping all around but they were just to scattered to get the castnet on them. i gave it about 6 tosses with no luck.
